01 Oct 04-22 Officially Closes
Pilots arriving and departing VNC now have half the choices. Runway 04-22, the calm wind and noise mitigation runway, is now closed for reconstruction. The closure was made official via AWOS, 119.275 and the City of Venice Newsletter. The closure is also NOTAMed on the Flight Service briefing.
Departing pilots are reminded to use “Fly Friendly” Procedures, including the sidestep maneuvers, recommended on the Fly Friendly Procedures page found here.
It’s a good time to brush up on your crosswind skills; today’s winds were 220@12. Runway 05-23 is expected to reopen in late December, 2012.
