13/31 Construction To Begin

Construction to shift Runway 13-31 by 639-ft southeast, further away from a residential neighborhood, is set to begin on October 28th.  Once complete, 5,000-ft will be available for takeoff and landing through the use of declared distances.  Please see the attached phasing plan, which is also summarized below:

 

–          10/28 – 11/3/15 – Runway 5-23 and Taxiway D closed.  Back taxi will be required to Runway 31

–          11/4/15 – 3/11/16 – Runway 13-31 and Taxiway D closed.  All aircraft will be required to use Runway 5-23

–          Both runways will be closed at some point during construction for two nights only from 9 PM – 7 AM

 

Other improvements associated with this project include:

 

–          Seal coat and new markings for Runway 13-31

–          Reconstruction of Taxiway D

–          Realignment of connector Taxiway B

–          LED lighting on Runway 13-31 and Taxiway D

–          LED REIL’s at both ends of Runway 13-31 (Remove ODALS)

–          4-box LED PAPI’s on both runways

–          Airfield lighting generator replacement

–          Completion of wildlife fence adjacent to the golf course

–          Removal of trees identified as obstructions to both runway ends

–          Landscaped berm at the corner of Beach Rd and Harbor Dr

–          RNAV GPS approach procedures to both runway ends
