SUBJECT: Meeting to discuss skydiving activities at Venice airport Tuesday

The City of Venice holds an open house to discuss potential skydiving activities at Venice Municipal Airport (VNC). The meeting takes place in Community Hall at Venice City Hall, 401 W. Venice Ave., Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 4 – 5 p.m. A brief presentation will be made at the beginning, graphics will be available for review, and comments accepted.

The city received a proposal for a low volume skydiving business at VNC. A designated parachute landing area would be  established on the airfield in a location intended to minimize disruption to other air traffic using the facility. The business estimates three parachutes would be in the airspace during one jump during which customers jump in tandem with experienced skydivers.

A safety analysis conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration determined skydiving can be accommodated at VNC. Pilots and the public are invited to learn more and submit questions or comments. For those who cannot attend the meeting, comments may be submitted by email to [email protected].
