See the Noise?

One of the Venice Municipal Airports many roles in serving the community has been a special event venue. Its island location and the abundance of available event space at the temporary festival grounds has made it a practical option for many annual events. This has included the Sharkstooth Festival, the Italian Festival, the Barbecue Bash, arts and crafts events and even car shows. Many events operate throughout the weekend and often into the night.

Because of the growing popularity of the venue and its frequent use, the city commissioned a safety study to identify safety concerns associated with crowds in proximity to airfield operations. As a part of the study, VASI and conducted a nighttime test flight capturing still photography and video of the event during various operational scenarios including taxi, take-off, overhead cruise, approach and landing.

The city has not yet completed the report and present any findings. However, some of the photography tells a revealing story.
