20 Jan 5-23 Officially Opens
Eight months ago, a runway rehab as the last thing imaginable. Last week, it became reality when the paint dried and the LED lighting went hot on Venice’s $7.2 million runway rehabilitation program.
Temporary and periodic closures are still planned for punch list items. Taxiways are restricted to smaller aircraft. Check NOTAMS and Flight Service for details before any airport operations.
In Other News
The old 4-22 lighting (taxiways and runway signage) was thoughtfully donated to VASI. In all, eight fixtures brought $235 in a silent auction at the VASI BBQ held January 19th, with proceeds benefitting VASI programs. Thanks to Dan and Monica Guilandri for their purchase on behalf of Sarasota Avionics Inc. for office decorations.
